Hayden was selected as the 2025 Adina Talve-Goodman Fellow by One Story to support his commitment to fiction writing, particularly as he works to complete his first novel.

Each year, One Story chooses an emerging writer whose work reckons with non-normative embodiments and bodies of difference—like race, queerness, and disability—to support their writing craft and career, and connect them to other writers and opportunities in the industry.

This fellowship honors Adina Talve-Goodman, an accomplished author who experienced lifelong chronic illness, receiving a heart transplant when she was nineteen years old, and whose own writing challenges narratives of illness, death, and disabled bodies and lives.
